Nicholas S. Pobutsky (above left) & Darian J. Berro (above right)  co-founded this traveling cinema in 2020 to help keep moviegoing alive. 

Here in the Back Alley, we are formalists (or, more accurately - film gluttons). Although we too have an appreciation for restored films like most afficionados of today, our taste often goes beyond that norm as we cannot resist the charms of all 16mm prints – including those which might not be considered ‘perfect’.

To us, most anything printed on film is beautiful. In the High Digital era of 4K now being the standard for a living room, our passion lies in projecting the superior format of film and film only, within a theatrical setting. 

Furthermore, whether they are originals, reductions, or dupes, we love them all and believe  each of these rare prints must be enjoyed and preserved for many years to come. So join us as we indulge in this amazing format together. It is the finest way to see a movie!
